A round table discussion was conducted in Kathmandu between government officials from the Urban Ministry and municipalities, academics, the private sector, activists, and journalists who have been engaged on issues of urban development, walkability, bicycle and non-motorized transport promotion, and the members of Car-free Cities Alliance. This round table discussion explored the present status of vehicle-free efforts in Nepal and analyzed the present and future challenges in the conversion and development of Vehicle-Free zones in Nepal. The discussion also gave a way for collaboration with the Urban Ministry and New Town Development Project office to explore further cooperation possibilities for Car-free development in new towns and smart city projects led by the Urban Ministry.
